New model variants and equipment levels for Mercedes-Benz construction trucks

Occasionally, the Mercedes-Benz Arocs might find construction sites and entrances a bit of a squeeze. The new ClassicSpace LowRoof cab in M and L versions and a width of 2300 mm is 100 mm lower than the previous variant. With the OM 470 engine, the 320 mm engine tunnel and the ClassicSpace LowRoof, the roof height is even reduced by 280 mm.

The Climate Pack is available around the world for all M and L cabs. It comprises automatic air conditioning, a heating package and a new stationary air conditioner. It is available as a stand-alone extra for all engine tunnel variants. The Arocs featuring the SoloStar Concept and its generous rest area for the StreamSpace and BigSpace cabs is very comfortable. The Home Line and Style Line design and equipment lines are also available for the Arocs.

The Arocs also has new suspension and powertrain options. From the end of 2016 the electrically supported Servotwin steering will be available for the Arocs 8×4 with four axles and for other wheelbases. The engageable hydraulic front wheel drive HAD (Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive) is now available in variants with a 3300 mm wheelbase and can be used to transport hazardous goods. New for the Arocs with HAD is the 320 mm engine tunnel and the bulk goods cover for the M (medium-length) cab.

Drivers needing to move off very carefully or who manoeuvre at low speeds should choose the turbo retarder clutch (TRC). It can now be combined with Proximity Control Assist and Active Brake Assist in all Arocs 6×4 chassis with air suspension and front underride protection. Together with the OM 471 engine an additional power take-off up to 80 kW can be realised in combination with the TRC.
From early 2017 a new factory-fitted tilting hydraulics package is available for the twin-axle Arocs 4×2 semitrailer tractors. This will also be available for the Arocs 4×4 from mid-2017. The hydraulic system is configured as a single or dual-circuit system depending on intended use.

The Arocs also leads the way in terms of safety. An optional tyre pressure monitoring system with a new display concept is now available that displays the precise pressure required, depending on the outside temperature. Most importantly, the twin and triple-axle Arocs is now available with the optional new Active Brake Assist 4 with pedestrian detection.

For construction vehicles with a focus on road transport, Mercedes-Benz has developed an Actros as a 4×2 LS semitrailer tractor. The key deployment area for the tipper body is transporting bulk goods with a total weight of up to 44.0 t. The semitrailer tractor features six centimetres more ground clearance and is available with an optional pivoting step. It weighs up to 150 kg less than an equivalent Arocs 4×2. The semitrailer tractor is available with 320 mm and 170 mm engine tunnels and the OM 936, OM 470 and OM 471 engines in all output ratings.
