Good Design Awards 2017, industrial category

For 67 Years of GOOD DESIGN are the oldest and the most prestigious Global Awards Program for design excellence and design innovation. The emphasis of the GOOD DESIGN program is on quality design of the highest form, function, and aesthetics a standard beyond ordinary consumer products and graphics.

iNova 2000 Mobile Asphalt Plant
Innovative technology in a ground breaking design. This generation of highly mobile asphalt mixing plants, significantly simplified in production, guarantees diverse configuration options due to its new modularity. It is predestined for effective deployment in developing transport infrastructures in the southern hemisphere.

The iNova 2000 impresses especially in extreme climate zones with its process technology and capacity, clarity and easy to operate ergonomics including a new developed intuitive MMI. The plant is to operate by one operator only. The production capacity is 200 tons per hour predestined for long distance projects like highways. For the first time innovative design complies with environmental, transport and safety regulations of all respective countries of deployment. A newly developed filter concept reduces dust emissions nearly 100 % in the filter process and the new burner concept reduces considerably fuel consumptions up to 18 %.

CASE G Series Wheel Loaders
The cabin of the latest generation CASE G Series wheel loaders range sets new standards in operating comfort and safety. Every element of the cab has been designed to provide an automotive feel with industrial performance, thanks to its enhanced styling, superior comfort, practical innovation and intuitive technology.

The design ensures best-in-class visibility, with the one-piece windshield that provides an unobstructed panoramic view to the front; multiple rear view convex mirrors, rear view display, slim engine hood and rear grid defroster offer excellent rear visibility; and the LED work light packages provide great visibility in low-light applications. The suspended cab featuring an air ride active suspension premium seat, combine with the positioning of the engine at the rear of the machine, dramatically reduces the noise (to 69dB) and vibrations for the operator. The choice of ergonomic, fully adjustable seats, seat heaters, ergonomic controls, seat-mounted armrest are designed for superior operating comfort and to dramatically reduce fatigue.

The cabin interior has been designed to maximize interior space while providing adequate storage meeting customer demands. The ergonomically designed joystick steering system provides the operator with a symmetrical operating station to control loader functions and machine steering, which further reduces fatigue, especially during repetitive, high-production applications. The high-quality HVAC system creates an ideal internal climate for the operator inside the cab. The primary and recirculation filtration efficiency reaches 99% of particles, protecting the operator. The premium control interface with 8” color display and integrated rear view camera offers intuitive navigation through the machine’s information and settings.

John Deere 310E ADT
The 310E ADT (Articulated Dump Truck) is built for performance in mining, quarrying, road building and other large-scale material-moving applications. John Deere tasked Designworks to collaborate in a complete redesign based on a smaller package for the ADT line. In ADTs, the perception and reality of strength, toughness, and durability are key success attributes.

Strong chamfers, color breakup and stout overall proportions secure an active stance and directional assertiveness. The design language used in development of the 310E is incorporated in all John Deere Construction machines, ensuring a consistent look throughout the product family. Manufactured with state-of-the-art tools and techniques at the John Deere facility in Davenport, Iowa, E-Series ADTs are exceptionally reliable and built with safety in mind.

Ground-level serviceability, a quieter, pressurized Deere/Designworks-designed cab, and adaptive suspension are all standard features on the truck. Other features include onboard diagnostics, on-the-fly auto-differential lock, tire-pressure monitoring, and onboard payload weighing. All to boost productivity and uptime, while keeping operating costs down.

John Deere 3756G
The 3756G Swing Machine is a rugged, efficient new player in the John Deere Forestry line-up that is all about improving productivity, uptime, and operation characteristics in some of the harshest working conditions around. The overarching design language for John Deere Forestry machines communicates functional and physical strength reassuring operators of the power, durability and longevity of the machines while also ensuring a consistent look throughout the product family.

The high cab enhances the visibility of the task at hand with strong command proportions that strengthen the perception of security and safety. The rear engine enclosure relates well with the cab riser and is armored with 6-8mm thick sheet steel for maximum security within the hostile environment of the logging industry.

Countless hours of virtual-reality studies and field testing with loggers led to superb all-around visibility. On the log-loader rear-entry cab, floor-mounted polycarbonate windows improve visibility to the tracks and working area in log-loading applications. With the combination of strong proportion, active stance and bold graphics, the 3756G Swing Machine is an industry success.

HMK 640 WL Wheel Loader
Designed by Hidromek Design Studio, the HMK 640 WL wheel loader represents the new product identity of Hidromek and goes beyond the current trends with its modern lines and bold appearance. It has been developed after a careful evaluation of operators’ demands and the extreme working conditions in mines and quarries. A mono-block engine hood offers better service and maintenance conditions. Its fully electronic joysticks with an adjustable console make the operation easier compared to similar vehicles. All settings and information can be displayed on an LED screen. The HMK 640 WL provides the best ergonomic and comfortable working environment with a cabin of ROPS and FOPS.

HMK 600 MG Motor Grader
HMK 600 MG is 18 tons Motor Grader with 4.3 meter blade length and 187 – 214 HP turbo diesel engine which was designed by Hidromek Design Studio. HMK 600 MG’s diesel engine, electro-hydraulic control valve, joysticks and its automatic transmission through Can-Bus system provide high efficiency for all operations. The most notable feature of this vehicle is to have fully electronic joysticks to control every operational functions simply and easily while the machine allows the operator to use steering wheel to control the machine if needed. Thanks to cabin design with specially calculated angles, it has the best blade visibility.
