BKT at the CIM Convention in Montreal, Canada

The CIM 2017 Convention held at the Palais de Congrès in Montreal has just closed its doors. It is the fourth year that BKT Tires Canada Inc. has played an active part in the CIM event, which is more than a platform for dialog, exchange of ideas and in-depth discussion for operators in the mining sector. It is an opportunity for the companies to showcase their products, novelties and latest technology.

At this year’s edition, BKT displayed the Earthmax SR 55 as well as presented the SM 55 Arashield technology to the Convention; both these tires are specially designed for underground mining operations. The SM 55 Arashield and Earthmax SR 55 tires clearly demonstrate BKT’s engineering know-how. These tires are able to excel in mining environments thanks to outstanding features such as cut and impact resistance, unique ply cord material and superior compounding. Both tires are in extra-deep and smooth tread pattern of the TRA class L-5S. In particular, SM 55 Arashield, BKT’s unique tire for Underground Mining Service (UMS), has a cross-ply construction with aramid, steel and nylon cords which deliver maximum productivity due to reduced machinery downtime.

In the limelight at the convention was also the Satellite Performance Optimization Technology (SPOTech), the mining productivity system specially developed by BKT for the mining world. SPOTech is a cutting-edge solution that collects data on haul truck activities by means of GPS technology, GoPro cameras and accelerometers for improving productivity, efficiency, and operating conditions within a mining site. SPOTech has notched up great successes around the world.
The BKT Canada team is going to present a technical paper at the CIM Maintenance, Engineering and Reliability / Mine Operators Conference (MEMO), which will be held in September 2017 at Saskatoon, SK.
