A promising new product of the 7518 series has been created based on the long-term experience of development, production, operation, and maintenance of its predecessors in the 180-ton series. Assembled in the experimental workshop, the new BELAZ-75184 has a lightened high-strength cast-welded frame, powerful engine, efficient AC electric drive, optimized kinematics of the suspension and fast body unloading system.

The first models in this series – BELAZ-75180 and BELAZ-75182 – have proven themselves in the quarries in different countries in the world, but the actual challenges need rethinking and modernization. A number of new design decisions, important technical refinement, and improvements made BELAZ-75184 even more reliable, efficient, and comfortable.

„This class of payload capacity has a huge potential. For example, it is that payload capacity that is in demand among the Russian companies of the mining industry and gold mining industry”, says General Designer of BELAZ Aleksandr Naskovets. „In return of equipment of foreign equipment, that has quitted the Russian market, we’re ready to offer our reliable and profitable in operation updated vehicle.”

High-strength steel was used in the construction of the bearing element of BELAZ-75184. In the most stressed areas of the frame, cast reinforcing elements are structurally incorporated. The suspension kinematics was renewed and optimized. These features allow a reduction of the pressure on the bearing element, lighten the frame, and increase the strength and durability, reliability, maneuverability, and smoothness of the new model.

The modernized vehicle has a diesel engine of 2000 hp output. The dump truck is also equipped with AC electric drive. The experience shows that its application lowers maintenance costs, increases towing and dynamic characteristics, increases the productivity of transporting, and reduces maintenance time.

The dump truck received the increased to 2500 liters fuel tank with the fast refueling system, fuel level control, and collecting and draining of the condensate. The new 180 tons dump truck also features fast unloading, aided by a new hydraulic system that speeds up the raising and lowering of the hard-wearing body.

The specially designed extended platform visor, covering the machine deck and cab equipped with ROPS/FOPS passive safety device, guarantees all-around protection for the operator in hazardous mining conditions. The operator’s workspace is ergonomic and comfortable – all components of control are conveniently positioned for the operator. The functionality and comfort of the cab are ensured by an electronic dashboard, climate control system, noise insulation, and pneumatically adjustable seats. For operation in extremely low temperatures, BELAZ-75184 can be equipped with an additional heater, double glazing, and electrically heated mirrors.
