MOBA Mobile Automation and Ruthmann have developed an innovative control panel

MOBA Mobile Automation AG and Ruthmann, the renowned manufacturer of truck-mounted work platforms, have developed a new revolutionary modular control panel for lifting platforms: the MCP. The future-proof modular concept provides numerous ways to flexibly configure a control panel. On account of its particular level of adaptability, the MCP is a true chameleon among control panels. Known by the name ‘Cockpit’, the control panel, which has been individually customised for Ruthmann’s STEIGER control systems, provides a maximum level of user-friendliness and safety in work cages.

Thanks to its modular construction, all components can be exchanged at any time in an uncomplicated manner. Patented technologies, such as the contactless joystick controller for example, save additional time when performing exchanges, thereby heightening the control panel’s level of serviceability. In addition to the hardware, the software has also been designed for long-term use. Using the integrated USB interface, software updates can be installed at any time.
Furthermore, the ultralight “Backbone” reduces the unit’s net weight, being a robust vibration-proof aluminium construction that combines all of the housing components with one another, thereby increasing the cage’s load capacity. The electrical sub-distribution system integrated in the control panel eliminates the need for a switch cabinet, thus saving on additional weight, space, effort and costs.

The control panel was optimally developed to meet Ruthmann’s needs within the scope of a close co-operation. The customisability of the control-panel marking film makes language-specific and/or customer specific marking of the control panel possible after the function and info keys or the joystick has been individually programmed.
Boris Zils, product manager (MCP) at MOBA Mobile Automation AG, highly appreciates the professional collaboration: “With its ideas and high level of requirements, Ruthmann has made a crucial contribution to driving this innovation. Due to the long-standing expertise of both companies and their mutual passion for technology, a first-class control panel has come into being.”

Design and development manager at Ruthmann, Dr. Nico Krekeler, is very satisfied with the outcome of the intensive partnership-based co-operation with MOBA: “By means of the modular concept that was developed together with us, MOBA makes a professional solution possible that can be used in the various STEIGER series and models. Being optimised on a continual basis, the high-performance STEIGER control systems combine the highest level of safety, easy operation, and readily available work-platform and vehicle information.”

As a global player with more than 40 years of experience, MOBA Mobile Automation AG develops and manufactures automation technologies for the mobile construction industry.
