New Liebherr R 920 Compact crawler excavator available worldwide

Showcased for the first time at Bauma 2016, the new Liebherr R 920 Compact crawler excavator is now available worldwide. The compact model has been designed especially for use on restricted construction sites or in inner city areas.

The new Liebherr R 920 Compact crawler excavator has an operating weight between 19 and 21 tonnes and is powered by a 100kW / 136HP Stage IV / Tier 4f engine. It has a SCR system with urea injection and oxidation catalyst. The particulate filters are available as an option.

The R 920 Compact combines the properties of a standard crawler excavator, such as high performance and versatility, with the advantages of a compact machine. With a short tail swing of only 1850mm, it can work effectively on construction sites where space is limited. The dimensions of the R 920 Compact ensure unrestricted movement around the jobsite and simple transport from one site to another.

The undercarriage, based on the Liebherr X design, improves the performance and extends the service life of the machine. The particularly reliable and robust travel mechanism is very easy to maintain and the integrated eyelets make it easy to secure and transport. The customer can choose from four undercarriage combinations with a bulldozer blade also available, and rubber track pads are also available as an option for urban operation sites.

The new R 920 Compact crawler excavator has easy-to-access maintenance points (engine oil levels can be comfortably read from the ground). The standard central lubrication system also increases the service life of the components and the safety of the driver, who does not have to leave the cab for lubrication tasks.

The cab gives the operator an ergonomic and spacious work area and includes: a standard air-suspension driver’s seat, automatic air-conditioning and a high-resolution 7″ colour touch screen. The fully retractable windscreen and the rear-view camera, integrated in the counterweight, ensure optimal visibility of the entire working area. An optional lateral camera can be installed for enhanced safety. The ROPS-certified cab structure protects the driver in the event of tipping and guarantees maximum safety. An emergency exit above the rear window is available for every excavator configuration.
